Establishing People in God's Word

Precept News Letter

Apr, 2014

Happy Easter!

Jesus died and ROSE again! :-) It is true! - There were over 500 witnesses!

This fact goes down well with prisoners – if they had over 500 defence witnesses testifying that they were innocent, then they'd also be free!
Are you looking for an effective way to spread the Good News? Then take advantage of our Easter Sale.

Please note that the office is closed from 28 April – 20 May 2014.
Rejoicing in the new life He gives!

Seven men studying “How Can a Man Control His Thoughts, Desires and Passions?”

This is a dream come true, but how exactly did they start?

About three years ago we had a man join a Bible study at Spring Hill prison. Upon his release nearly two years later he continued walking with Christ and so we introduced him to a church that loves the Word of God and he settled there. However, there was no Bible study for men, and the ladies' prayer group started to seek the Lord in this matter.

Philip, one of our facilitators at another prison who also attends this church, joined with his wife in prayer for this man. Then, in June last year, he asked for six copies of the 40M Minute study called “Fatal Distractions: Conquering Destructive Temptations”. He and Colin, another mature Christian man from their church, began the “ex-prisoner Bible study”.
Soon three young men joined and it was more than Colin's wife's baking that attracted them! They stayed with the group and studied other 40 Minute books until the end of the year.

Then the brother in Christ for whom the study had started, moved away from New Zealand. The group had a long break over Christmas and then one of the young men moved south to university. I was convinced that that was the end of that Bible study! But … I could not have been more wrong! :-)

The men started meeting again in January 2014, this time ordering ten Precept books and more young men joined. “We enjoy our sessions together,” Philip says. “I think it meets a genuine need. It feels relaxed and natural, and the Spirit leads us in our thoughts and conversations. I’m glad the original opportunity to help that first brother came along.”

A refreshing letter from Auckland Prison

“To Precept Ministries New Zealand
My name is John* and my friend recommended me to this kind of Bible study because he said it's a way to find the Lord Jesus Christ's word in the Bible and to find the meaning of life. So if you could send me some Bible studies that would help me find the way, that's the right way, that would be much appreciated.
Yours faithfully
John (name changed )
