Establishing People in God's Word

Precept News Letter

Oct, 2014

How are you impacting your surroundings?

We rejoice in the ripple effect that prison has. Not only have some of the prison facilitators met for a mini-conference, but 3 new facilitators have joined our team, and we have had invitations to go to facilitate in another prison and to present our work in two churches. Please join with us praying, giving or training and leading classes inside and/or outside! Let us stand together and make an eternal impact on this nation!

In Him,

Barbara Kipfer
National Coordinator

And what has been happening with Precept?

“How Do You Walk the Walk You Talk” - In One Day!

Seven of us met on a Saturday at 1pm in Auckland and studied all 6 lessons in the 40Minute study called “How Do You Walk the Walk You Talk”.

Five of us volunteered to facilitate a lesson. We broke for afternoon tea and a pizza dinner and went home at 9pm refreshed in our spirits!

  • Thank you. I really enjoyed the day. I was very tired by the end though! I learnt a lot from everyone and I will try to incorporate it into my leading in the future!
  • A whole day spent in the word, sharing the insights of others leading this study was such a blessing. The family atmosphere promoted open, helpful discussion, strengthening the bonds as fellow-labourers in the gospel of Christ.
  • Can we do it again, but this time in 2 half days?

(This 40 Minute study deals with our identity in Christ: How does the Lord see us and therefore how will we walk? Cost $12 per book)

A New Facilitator Inside Prison

Lucy is the first of our three new ladies who went into the women's prison in Auckland.

I was delighted to hear that my ID was granted and my first time inside was a great experience. Meeting the girls was a little scary but my fear died down quickly when I found out how keen they were to do the Bible Studies.

On my second visit I had more confidence. I went to a different unit with a different facilitator. Things went very well even though we had a very big group. The Holy Spirit moved the girls' hearts. That encourages me to carry on.

The next time I go in, I will meet Chinese ladies. I really want to study God's Word with them!

The training helped me a lot because it guides the person to think and reflect for themselves based on the word of God.

Please pray for me that I can soon take my first class and that I will not forget anything as I go in. There are so many procedures!

Thank the Lord for …

  • drawing more students at Spring Hill prison. We have gone from 30 to 50 per week
  • Connie facilitating Bible studies for the Chinese speaking men at Spring Hill prison
  • the three ladies who got their ID card for prison and Lucy who has already been inside
  • 20 weekly classes inside prisons
  • the Homeschool mothers who go through the studies they bought at and after HEART
  • God's provision through your gifts: prayer, financial, skills, ideas, time

Pray for …

  • those who, on 12 and 18 October, will hear some of our prison team speak to their churches about our work
  • new men (and women) facilitators to apply to join our team now to be ready when a new 1000 bed men's prison opens up in Auckland in May 2015.
Also for Mt Eden prison which has a dozen more units without Bible study, the prison in Northland, whose chaplain invited us to bring our Bible studies, and Christchurch  prison which also has an open door for us.
People to ask us for our information pack for prison
  • the ladies inside prison to join our Bible studies in a special programme on the five Thursdays nights in October
  • people to attend, and a date for a conference, when we can study another 40M study
  • refreshment of spirit, soul and body over the holidays
  • continued unity through focusing on the Lord and His Word

We are financially self-supporting.
