Establishing People in God's Word

Precept News Letter

Jul, 2013

Have you ever wondered how we have come to have nearly 50 Precept classes all over New Zealand with nearly 300 students studying the Word inductively, discovering Truth for themselves?

Let me chronicle for you the birth of one recent group.

A couple had participated for a year in the email Bible study. Just before Christmas last year I got a very brief email. It said that this couple was interested in starting a Precept study group in their town.

We met mid-January and discussed training, what would be suitable and how to proceed further.

On the 4 May 2013 the next email came: “We don't have anybody to join yet! We feel led by God to start a Bible Study group so we took a step in faith, trusting that God will honour that. We want books ready so that they are immediately available for people. God will use these books!

We are thinking of running the sessions on a Friday evening at our house. When we have finalised this and know exactly when the group will be starting we will let you know. If you know of anyone who would be interested in coming send them our way!”

Despite contacting those whom I knew in their area they reported back two weeks later, “We had nobody, but we have at least one person coming next week. Still trusting that God will send the people!”

Then, late last month, I received this email: “We have completed four weeks of the study. We have our two Friday night regulars and we are confident that these are the ones that God wanted to attend.

One is a young man from our church who is extremely lacking in confidence but is gaining confidence through these meetings. He loves this method of study.

The other is a mature lady who finds it difficult to look at what the Bible actually says, as opposed to what she thinks it says. But she had a 'light bulb' moment on Friday when she realised that what she thought (in one instance) was completely wrong.

We are now prayerfully considering the topic for the next study.”

God's ways and timing are best. Let us keep in step with Him!

I am looking forward to hearing from you in His time so that we can, together, keep in step with Him in establishing people in His Word.

Grateful.

Excited!

In Him,

Barbara Kipfer
National Coordinator

Pray for:

  • new leaders and students to emerge and for new classes to begin all over New Zealand
  • key people to get in contact with us, to be trained and to lead others out of their apathy
  • more facilitators, with a biblical worldview, to lead studies with prisoners and ex-prisoners
  • NZACS (Christian Schools conference). Favour, good contacts and sales. May the teachers see the potential of inductive Bible study for their students, themselves, the churches they attend and the New Zealand society as a whole.

Thank the Lord for:

  • good contacts from the HEART conference
  • His continued provision: spiritually, financially, support, people

PS: We are financially self-supporting.
Expenses (book handling, mail out, advertising, administration costs, purchase of books etc) are fully paid from our income (book sales and donations).
