Establishing People in God's Word

Precept News Letter

Aug, 2013

At the HEART conference in June a mother shared that they had finished “Wrong Way, Jonah".  Read this family's story in their own words:

Mum:  We had so much fun doing the Jonah study together.  My 3 boys are aged 9yrs, 7yrs and 3yrs.  There were times when it was a ‘discipline’ and hard work – but most of the time we were all enthusiastic and discovered something new each time we studied.  I admit that we took longer to go through the study than I hoped (2 years!), but we did have many challenges during this e.g. living in a caravan for 5 months, and Caelan’s arthritis impacting all our lives.  I am so pleased that we persevered to complete the study and I can see that the boys are proud too.  When we began, I was being scribe for Reuben, by the end, he was begging to do the writing himself!  We have come a long way in lots of different ways.
I was particularly struck by Jonah 2:9 that when we give thanksgiving to God it is a sacrificial offering of worship to Him.  I was also struck by Jonah’s foolish response to God at the end of the book, after all that had happened.  Jonah’s judgmental attitude is something that I too struggle with.  Here was a tangible reminder of God’s unlimited patience and compassion with us.

Reuben:   I loved drawing the pictures.  I liked the code breaker activity the best.  And I liked making the prayer journal.  I learnt that God was patient with Jonah and the Ninivites.  God is slow to anger and He’ll do the same for me.  I loved the whole thing!

Caelan:  I enjoyed finding out that there is much more to the story of Jonah than I thought.  I especially enjoyed marking the words in the book of Jonah at the back and doing the code-breaker.  God has shown me that He is a compassionate God and I have felt his compassion to me as I have had JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis) and God has healed me sooner than many children who get it.

And this came via email from another home school mother: “I would like to order “Digging up the Past”, Genesis 3-11. My daughter wants me to do it alongside her so we can discuss what we are learning. Can’t say no to that can I. I actually get a lot out of the children’s studies anyway. Should be fun.”

Looking forward to you contacting us so we can assist you to choose the best suitable study for your needs.

Please note that the office is closed from 12-16 August.

In Him,
