Rachel's story

The online Precept classes on www.precept.org have been the main highlight of my year. It has given me the opportunity to study the Precept Upon Precept (PUP) studies - something that I have wanted to do for a while. I love the fact that the online component is kept to one hour - this keeps the study group focused on the Word and not on distractions. One hour is not onerous as there is no travelling time and no need to "dress up".

It was tricky at the beginning to find a study that had a good time slot for New Zealand, as most were held in the middle of the night, our time. But there are many studies to choose from so in the end it worked out. I have kept to the same leader with all the studies this year - mainly because his time slot suits me and I like the way he leads the group.

How has it affected me? One big component of the inductive way of studying the Bible is to ask questions. My online leader - Dale Moore was awesome at asking questions of the group - questions that make you think and led me to search out the text closely. It has made me become more like a Berean and study the Word for myself. It has also kept me in regular Bible study completing the 5 hours of PUP homework each week before the online meeting. It has also been enlightening studying the Bible with people from different countries. They learn from me and I learn from them.

Be encouraged, Kiwis, and "give it a go these Christmas holidays!"

Pray for …

  • a refreshing summer break
  • those who want to discover Truth for themselves – that they get in contact with us
  • more new leaders and students to emerge and for new classes to begin all over New Zealand in 2014 – booking training sessions to prepare leaders as necessary
  • $500 to cover the cost of Bible studies we are giving out at prison over Christmas (donations are tax-deductible)
  • a volunteer to do administration tasks in the office – training will be provided

Thank the Lord for:

His continued provision in every way

We are financially self-supporting.
Expenses (book handling, mail out, advertising, administration costs, purchase of books etc) are fully paid from our income (book sales and donations).
